Faculty of Public Health - Scottish Annual Conference
Date: 12 - 13 November 2009
Venue: Peebles Hydro Hotel, Peebles, Scotland.
This year's Annual Scottish Conference is being organised by the Faculty of Public Health in conjunction with the East of Scotland NHS Boards (NHS Borders, NHS Fife, NHS Lothian and NHS Tayside) The Conference Steering Group would like to invite all interested colleagues to this year's conference being held on 12 & 13 November at the Peebles Hydro Hotel.
This year's conference will be of interest to those involved in public health work both at practitioner and specialist level and in all three domains of – health protection, health care and health promotion. This year the conference will focus on Public Health in a Change of Age, recognising the importance of us living in a world of unprecedented change like nothing we have known before.
Changes are unpredictable and interconnected requiring a different mind set to operate effectively. We urgently need a fresh approach to frame and respond to the major health challenges, obesity, alcohol – related harm and mental illness, ageing population, fuel and food poverty and living in an "interrupted society."
The conference may also be of interest to those who do not necessarily see themselves within the public health workforce.
