The application process

This is a 3 step process.

  1. Applicants successful at longlisting will be invited to a half day assessment centre being held on Wednesday the 27 February 2008.  The first part of the selection is a numerical critical reasoning and a verbal critical reasoning test. You will require a calculator, which you MUST bring with you as one will NOT be provided. Candidates are required to attain a set level in these tests before receiving an invitation to part 2 of the selection process.

The opportunity to practice the exercises will be given on the day but there will also be an opportunity to see practice items before this. Details will be given with the assessment centre invites.

Assessment centres will be held in at least 5 locations and you will be invited to attend the assessment centre nearest to your home address.
  2. Applicants successful at the assessment centre will be subject to shortlisting. See the sample of shortlisting scoresheet [pdf].

  3. Applicants successful at shortlisting will be invited to a half day selection centre being held between the 3 and 18 April 2008. The dates of the selection centres are to be decided locally.

The second part of the selection consists of interviews, a group exercise and presentation. You will be given details of the presentation and time to prepare on the day. Only candidates who attain the set level at the assessment centre will be invited to the selection centres.

Selection centres will be held in at least 5 locations and you will be invited to attend the centre which covers your first choice training programme. For exact dates and locations please see the links above to the training programmes.

Candidates wishing to apply should ensure they are available for these dates as alternatives will not be provided.

Other non-UK or non-EEA nationals with limited leave to remain in the UK whose employment will require a Work Permit (such as those on student or working holiday visas), are subject to the resident labour market test and may only be considered if there is no suitable UK or EEA national candidate for the post.

Evidence of immigration status should normally consist of a date stamped passport and accompanying letter from the Home Office. Applicants and assessors should visit www.bia.homeoffice.gov.uk for more information.
